25 December and 15 August are observed as Christian holidays. Easter,Good Friday and Easter Monday also come in March/April. Muslim feasts such as Korité (the breaking of the feast of Ramadan) and Tobaski (the feast of blood sacrifice) depend on the moon and do not have specific dates. Many other Islamic feasts are observed as holidays such as the anniversary of the prophet Mohammed, the beginning of the Islamic calendar and the night of power. It is typical for both Muslims and Christians to share in the celebration of religious feast together. In some cases, the public religious holiday may be extended to two days particularly the Muslim feasts. |
